Miles- 10 days new

Two weeks ago I went to a workshop with Kimmy Howard from Kimmy Howard Photography. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to go and learn so many great things! Kimmy specializes in newborn photography, works from her home, and spends most of her time raising her three beautiful children. This is EXACTLY what I want to do! Kimmy gave me tips on posing, angles of shooting, how to balance business and family, and so many other important aspects of juggling all of my priorities without stretching myself to thin.

In preparation for this workshop I knew that I’d want to have some newborns immediately after the workshop so that I could practice everything I’d learned. When I found out that Amanda was due the day of the workshop I was so excited to get her and her little guy in! Miles was so sweet! He was the smiliest baby I have ever photographed- I think I caught 3 smiles on camera during his session. He is also SO loved! Big brother, Zane, was so excited to show of his brother and loved getting to play with him! I’m so in love with the Miles’ images, and I hope you enjoy them too! Here are some of my favorites. 🙂

Shelby Wedding: The Reception

The Shelby’s reception was full of fun-loving friends and family who cared for and supported this beautiful couple. As I was editing, I caught myself grinning as I remembered this happy day! Take a look back at some of my favorite moments of the Shelby reception.

Baxley- Senior Rep

Have you heard about my senior rep program? It’s pretty awesome. My senior reps are upcoming seniors from area schools who receive a super-discounted session and then get some great rewards whenever they refer another senior to me. Baxley is my senior rep from Grissom High School this year. As a cheerleader at Grissom, she has a special place in my heart. (Very few know that 10 years ago I was Grissom’s mascot. In fact, I was the mascot who first named the tiger “Gus”. Rumor is that name stuck. So there you have it! I’m famous! 😉 ) Baxley is both talented and beautiful. I’m so glad to have her on my team! If you’re interested in getting your senior portraits from me, go find Baxley for some free print credit! Here are a few of my favorites from Baxley’s senior session. Enjoy!

Shelby Wedding: The Couple

These two little love birds are clearly so in love. I love it when my couple is so in their own little world together that I hardly have to pose them at all. Kayla and Quinton were totally that couple. Here are a few of my favorite shots of the Mr. & Mrs. 🙂 Enjoy!

Shelby Wedding: The Ceremony

This couple. What can I say? Adorable, kind, funny, and always wanting to please one another. They were an absolute dream to work with, and possibly even kindred spirits (as was made evident by the groom’s AWESOME ring and cuff links that made Grady totally jealous!) I’d like to present to you- their ceremony. (plus a couple before shots that I didn’t quite squeeze into my last post. 😉 )

Shelby Wedding: Getting Ready

Every time we have the opportunity to photograph a wedding I am reminded of how much I love weddings! This weekend Kayla and Quinton invited us to be a part of their special day and I loved every moment of it. Kayla (while talking to her mom) said it best- “Today is so much fun! I get to have everyone I love together!” With everything going on it can be so easy for a bride to feel so much pressure that she can hardly enjoy her special day. Kayla was a champ at soaking it all in. If she was stressed, she absolutely did not show it. One of the things that I love best about photographing weddings with my husband is that when we get home that night I get to experience the whole wedding again through someone else’s eyes. One of the main things that I miss is the behind the scenes of the groom and groomsman. Tonight that is exactly what I’m going to highlight. I hope you enjoy our perspective of the Shelby’s getting ready for their wedding. <3

Hudson Newborns

Hudson came to visit me a couple weeks ago. Even though this handsome guy was a little bit older than what I generally like for newborn sessions, he was the best sleeper! He let us dress him and move him around and he hardly made any peeps. Enjoy a few of my favorites from Hudson’s session!

Reeves Family

Last weekend I met with the Reeves family at Ditto Landing for some fun family pics. As luck would have it, sweet baby Kate had just turned 1 so we decided to do a little cupcake smash at the end of the session. (I love cake smashes! They’re absolutely one of my favorites. Each time I photograph a cake smash I live vicariously through that sweet little baby. Ha!) Normally during family sessions (especially sessions with the young kids) I’ll pose the family for a few shots and then just photograph the family playing together. It almost always turns out that my favorite images come from the time when the family is just being themselves. Everyone looks so natural, and I get to photograph the little ones being themselves- silly, real expressions and all. After all, don’t we want to remember what our little ones REALLY look like? Not when they’re all prim and proper- but that look they give during “peek-a-boo” or during a game of chase.  Here are a few of my favorites from the Reeves session. Enjoy!

Reagan Newborns

Sweet Miss Reagan came in last weekend when she was just 9 days old. She was so cooperative and hardly even made a peep her whole session.  Her mama and I had so much fun dressing her up and I am still having a hard time getting over that beautiful head of hair! Here are some of my favorites from Reagan’s session. Enjoy!
